Thanksgiving Holiday Hours, Campus Libraries

During this week of the Thanksgiving holiday, campus libraries will observe some changes from their regular hours of operation. Do plan ahead should you need to visit the libraries or to pick up items from their collections.
Steenbock Library hours are posted on its home page (lower right on screen) and on its detailed hours page. Hours of operation for all campus libraries can be found by browsing the list of libraries at the campus libraries' page.

Online resources, with the exception of chat and immediate email contact, will be available twenty-four hours, every day, and can be accessed from off-campus as well.

We wish you well on your travels and to enjoy a pleasant long weekend.

All Campus Food Drive, 2011

Now, through December 1, students and staff are invited to donate non-perishable food items on behalf of the "Share Your Holidays" end-hunger campaign. This effort, as coordinated by NBC 15, the campus Office of Visitor & Information Programs and campus partners, including University Housing and the General Library System, supplies necessary food items for the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

Current campus donation sites include the following:

  • Union South, 1308 W. Dayton Street
  • Office of the Registrar, 333 East Campus Mall, Room 10101
  • WSUM 91.7 FM, 333 East Campus Mall, Room 4100

Those who wish to make a monetary donation can do so through the Second Harvest site and can have that donation credited to UW-Madison or to the specific department or unit helping to raise donations.

See the campus press release.

Found in the Archives!

The University Archives is full of fascinating collections, stories, photos, artifacts and more. A few times each month, the staff will share its intriguing discoveries with you online.

Visit their site this week to view an example of ROTC uniforms from 1921-1925 and scrapbook photos commemorating Armistice Day in Madison, 1918.

Feel free to link or to share Found in the Archives! with friends and colleagues. The site is also accessible from the UW-Madison Archives Website.

The University Archives recognizes volunteer and library school grad, Molly Temple, for creating the site, and generating its content.
