NCBI Workshop--GenBank and Molecular Biology Resources

The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) presents A Field Guide to GenBank and NCBI Molecular Biology Resources, a free lecture and hands-on computer workshop. Workshop details are available at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Class/FieldGuide/
A general lecture is scheduled for July 19 (from 9:00 - noon) with a two-hour hands-on workshop to follow on either July 19 or July 20, as assigned. The workshop will be held at the Health Sciences Learning Center.

Reserve your spot (175 participants maximum) by sending your name and contact information to Ann Combs, Health Sciences Librarian. (Do include NCBI in the subject line).

Celebrating Women in Science & Engineering, Grant Program

The WISELI grant program is the result of collaboration between WISELI and the following Schools/Colleges: CALS, L&S, Pharmacy, Medical, Veterinary Medicine, and Engineering. This program provides funds to departments, centers, or student groups wishing to enhance their own seminar schedules or especially to create new workshops, symposia, lecture series, or similar events in line with the goals of WISELI: to promote participation and advancement of women in science and engineering. The maximum award is $3,000, and the maximum time frame for the award is one academic year. Applications for the 2005/06 academic year are due May 27, 2005. (Text as per WISELI site).

West Campus Construction, Summer Projects

During the late spring and summer, Steenbock Library will bear witness to several construction projects that will impact the approach to the building. While it will be business as usual inside, campus and community users are encouraged to exercise caution and to plan their route, as need be, in order to visit the library.
