RefWorks Drop-In Workshops

If you would like to learn more about how to create a RefWorks account and to import and organize records and to generate bibliographies, consider attending an upcoming workshop. Unless otherwise noted on the calendar, no registration is necessary in order to attend and library drop-in workshops are free to students, faculty and staff.

RefWorks is a Web-based, personal-database tool that helps to organize citations from the research literature and to format bibliographies. For additional information and support, speak with UW-Madison campus librarians.

Research Guides by Subject

Use Subject Guides to find recommended databases to the research literature and other useful information available online in a particular discipline. Steenbock Subject Guides are created to reflect the academic areas that this library serves with its collections—including such disciplines as agriculture/life sciences, consumer science, food science and nutrition, veterinary medicine, among others.

ResearchChannel

ResearchChannel, a non-profit organization founded by a consortium of research institutions (including UW-Madison), collaborates with its participating institutions to develop an international and publicly-accessible media presence for disseminating research information.

Online, users can view (by selecting a preferred bandwidth) webcasts and full-length programs from a searchable, on-demand video library.

Need Proceedings?

The InterDok Directory of Published Proceedings (DoPP) provides searchable access to more than 45,000 records of published proceedings from professional conferences, meetings and symposia. [DoPP is updated weekly; UW-Madison users can search from 1995 to the present]. Construct searches by making selections from the relevant drop-down menus by subject or by sponsor, country or year. Records supply information that is useful for finding copies in libraries—either by searching MadCat or WorldCat. The InterDok product also supplies access to MInd: The Meetings Index for locating future conferences and meetings—with entries that supply a Web link when available.

SORA: Searchable Ornithological Research Archive

SORA, an open-access electronic journal archive, provides access to extensive ornithological literature and material documenting the history of ornithology in North America over the last 120 years.

SORA includes the following titles: The Auk (1884-1999), The Condor (1899-2000), The Journal of Field Ornithology (1930-1999), The North American Bird Bander (1976-2000), Pacific Coast Avifauna (1900-1974), Studies in Avian Biology (1978-1999), and The Wilson Bulletin (1889-1999). Full-text access to Ornithologia Neotropical is pending; table of contents for issues can be viewed.
