Finding Literature about Rural U.S.

Have you ever had trouble finding material in journal databases about the rural United States? Steenbock Library has prepared a brief Web guide to help solve this problem, complete with examples from some popular databases used for social science research.

CAB Abstracts--Archive available to 1910!

Historical research just became a bit easier. CAB Abstracts, one of the most comprehensive indexes of research literature in agriculture and veterinary medicine, has just been expanded. Until recently, the online version covered literature published since 1973. Now nearly 2 million additional records have been added, covering the literature from 1910 to 1972. Research in the Archive includes such topics as biodiversity, pest control, food production, animal diseases, plant and animal breeding, and many more.

To access the database, use the library's new E-Resource Gateway.

Get 'Clued' In

Do you need to learn how to use campus libraries? If so, then check into CLUE--the campus libraries' interactive, multimedia tutorial. The tutorial consists of five modules that address important aspects of conducting college research, campus library services and facilities, and important searching strategies for MadCat and licensed journal databases.

Grants Information Collection

The Grants Information Collection is located in Memorial Library, Room 262 (Reference Department). This collection of print and electronic resources supplies information on scholarships, fellowships and a variety of funding opportunities for individuals and non-profit organizations. New Resource--UN Commodity Trade Statistics Database

Detailed international commodity trade data is now available via UN Comtrade. This resource includes downloadable data on international trade from over 130 countries. The data is detailed by commodity and partner country, and includes value in US dollars and (where possible) quantity. For many countries the data coverage begins as far back as 1962 and continues up to the most recent, completed year. Campus users can download unlimited data.
